Recommendations for the day

Garden

Full moon: by tradition a day of strong influence. Rather than pruning, it suits observing and checking the garden and gathering herbs; sowing is best left for a day or two.

Fruit day: the day for tomatoes, peppers, beans, peas, cereals and fruit trees. By tradition it is also a good day for picking fruit and collecting seed.

Lifestyle

Full moon: many people sleep more restlessly now. Pay attention to rest, an evening walk, a screen-free bedtime, and to what you would like to bring to a close.

Warmth day: a day of drive and movement. A good day for a longer walk, a workout, and the tasks that take some courage.

Household

By tradition baking turns out well on a warmth day, and it is a good day for preserving too.

Nutrition

Protein day: in the traditional moon calendar the quality of proteins comes to the fore. If you follow it, choose a lighter source of protein today, such as pulses, fish or eggs.

Herb of the day

Sea buckthorn

Hippophae rhamnoides

Fruit day: by tradition the part of the plant to gather today

A thorny shrub with tart orange berries, growing on sunny, sandy ground.

Description

A shrub 1–4 m tall with narrow silvery leaves, with separate male and female plants. The berries of the female plants, ripening in autumn, are gathered. They are rich in vitamin C, carotenoids, vitamin E and valuable fatty acids.

Traditional use

Traditionally enjoyed as a source of vitamins in juice, syrup and jam, especially in autumn and winter; its oil is used externally in skin care.

Preparation

Drink the juice diluted with water, tea or yoghurt, with honey to taste. One or two teaspoons of fresh berries a day are enough.

Caution

Large amounts may upset the digestion. If you take anticoagulants, ask your doctor first.
